Mute ring but not media or texts?

Any way to mute the ring tone but still allow text message sounds and media sounds? (from my other apps)

In your settings open the ringtone volume, there is a box that is checked by default to use ringtone volume for notification volume. Uncheck that box then turn the ringtone volume all the way down, you have a separate slider for your notifications that you can leave turned up

Any way to make this a new sound profile and quickly switch between full ring/full notifications and no ring/full notifications?

Also I don't think its working.. everytime I move the ringer volume all the way down and leave the notification volume up.. it auto switchs to silent profile and doesn't make any notification sounds. help?

Setting the ringer volume to zero using software does not have the same effect, and leaves silent mode alone. You can do this using the slider bar mentioned above, or with one of the ringer profile apps available in the Market.
