Help My add button is blank

For some reason my "add" button when I click on the far left button from home screen and try to click on "add" it's blank and can't be typed.

Any ideas why this is now ? I did try to install hotspot widget and when it became clear that the icon wasn't showing up 'cause I think they disabled it from working already, I noticed it's blank now.

The only reason that should happen is if there's no more room on that home screen to store any more icons.

And Hotspot Widget has a checkbox when you first start it and set it up that autohides the name.

You are mistaken. My home screen is totally full and the Add button is not grayed out. To make certain, I just tested this on an unrooted phone. Same deal.. the Add button is not grayed out.

well mine is grayed out on my 2 screens that are full, and is not grayed out on the 3 that have space. I'm using LauncherPro, maybe that's a specific function.

I'm using the paid version of LP on one phone, and the default launcher on the other phone. Both have the same results.

However, this does not help the OP... so if anyone has any ideas, pretty please holler.

I wound up just wiping my phone back to factory presets. This brought back my add button so then I proceeded to try to root my phone.

I managed to install gingerbreak.apk on my sd card. Then I installed it and ran it and it installed a superuser app but I can't seem to figure out how to use su. Nothing shows up in my apps section and no app, when opened, asks me for su permissions or anything like that. What am I missing ?

I really just want to uninstall all the bloatware.

Also, the add button has disappeared again.

Hey guys, I noticed that my home screen was indeed full, so I removed one icon and the "add" button reappeared.

I also note now that I would need to remove bloatware apps from my computer dos prompt, but I am not too sure what exactly I would need to do now that I have root access.

Can someone go into detail what I would need to type in the command prompt to remove certain apps? I have only found bits and pieces.

thanks in advance

You are mistaken.out.
You may want to go easy with absolute claims such as this. ;)

The Vs in my house (all unrooted and using the stock launcher) show exactly the same behavior as others have described: the button is greyed out when the screen is full and it is available otherwise.

It's not like that on either of my phones. One is rooted, the other is not. Tested with and without LauncherPro on both phones. ;)

Same here. The button is only grayed on on screens that are full. Which means it's grayed out a lot. :)

Rooted phone, though I doubt it makes a difference.
