Help My apps not showing up following update to 4.5.605, and keyboard laggy.

Ever since updating to 4.5.605 I've had a lot of problems with my phone. The first one I noticed is that my text messaging typing was a lot slower and laggy feeling. I use Handcent for text messaging, I don't know if they needed a newer version with the new software or what, but I thought I would wait it to come out and see... But whenever I go into the market to update my apps, none of them are there to update, even the ones I paid for, the only ones that are there are the stock ones like Amazon mp3, gmail, ect.. I still have them on my phone, but they're not in the market.

Edit: Seen that someone posted that it's a good idea to do a factory reset after updating to a new version. Is this true? Will a factory reset erase things like contacts, apps, ect..?
 
Yes and Yes, but your paid apps will come back and so will some of your settings, but you need to register with Google (gmail acct) and install your apps from Market again. It does not erase your sdcard.
 
Alight I think I want to try the factory reset...

A) How do I do a factory reset?
B) What do I need to do in order to not lose any contacts, apps, ect..?
 
If you're really concerned about your apps, you might want to get rooted, install and run Titanium Backup, create a backup, then reset.
