My complaints with Android

Here's a hint--ask some 3G users how iOS4 is working out for them. Even some 3GS users report their phones have become crippled after the OS update. That's what happens when Apple attempts multi-tasking with their mobile OS. Well-designed and well-thought out, eh?

LOL. I just spent the day with a friend who updated his 3GS. All he could do was complain about lag and crap battery life. Four hours after we left the city we were back in the car I was pulling up maps for directions and he unlocks his phone and the "battery almost dead" full screen pops up. Apparently this is becoming the new norm. Now he is trying to figure out how to revert his 3GS back to the old OS.

New Apple IOS pitch should be "IOS4 guaranteeing that 3G(S) will be obsolete by August"

I feel like I left Apple just in time.

@grainysand: There's two phones by Samsung who were really close together (as far as the numbers went) the Samsung Galaxy, which is only on Bell, and is the i7500 and the one that I'm using, the Samsung (Galaxy) Spica, which is only on Rogers, and is the i5700.

Apparently, those of us in Canada aren't allowed to have much in the way of "up to date phones" when it comes to Android.

When I first bought mine, back in March, it was the latest one to come out for Rogers. The one that followed mine was the Xperia X10 a few weeks later. I explained in a post a while back that I really never should have gone to the store without actually taking a look online first - unfortunately circumstances made it such that I really couldn't take a good look around first.

I'm happy enough with my Spica, but in two years when my next upgrade comes (or three years when my contract expires), I'll be doing something much different. I'll still be staying with Android (apparently its very oooh shiney so.../obsessed) but I'll be better informed, have more money to spend, and maybe actually get something in from the States instead (unless by some miracle Canadian providers step up to the plate).

Since updating [myTouch 3G] to Froyo 2.2.1 last week, I have found that I am unable to use the USB cable to connect to my Mac to download images on the SD card or to upload my own ringtones and other music. The computer does not recognize the phone even though it is connected to a USB just as it was prior to the update. I have not tried to connect to my Windoz notebook. Perhaps it has something to do with the tethering ability.

Also, my camera froze after taking a photo and had to be shut down. Other apps have also frozen, and getting out of them and back to the home screen did not stop the apps, and they had to be removed.
