Help My Contacts lost all their numbers...

OK...I hope not I'm retreading another post here. I use my phone mostly as a tool rather than a phone. I don't make a lot of phone calls so that's why I've not noticed this problem. Today, I go and dial out to a friend (but I don't remember his number). So I go to People and bring him up. His number is gone. The only thing that is there is his Facebook profile and email address. His Phone number is gone. In fact, a lot of contact are like that too. Now, being that I've synced with FB, a lot of my friends are on there, but have no phone number.

But I do a lot have friends and relatives and most of their numbers are gone. How can I get them back? I suppose I can add it manually, but I'd rather not do that.

I would appreciate the help. ICS.....so many damn things to learn.
 
Found this on a nexus site, but it is about similar ICS and contacts issues.

Someone with a Maxx said it helped them out also.

Guys, i think i have good news for you.i tried to do something and now i think it works properly. find the steps which i follow below.


1- menu --> people
2- option --> import/export
3- export to storage --> OK
4- option --> import/export
5- import from storage --> after searching
6- import one vCard file --> ok
7- choose the file which you exported early (00001.vcf) --> wait for import
8- now your issue is solved and you can try if it works with you. but we got another error of duplicated names here.


if you want to solve the duplication on names here. follow the below:
1- menu --> settings
2- accounts & sync
3- enable the sync and choose to sync your gmail account
4- after finishing the sync. go to your laptop and open your gmail email.
5- press on the contacts tab on the left side
6- select all the contacts --> more --> find & merge duplicates


hope this will work for you. i think it is working fine for me .. i will keep monitoring it.

Is it possible that a filter is set to only show your FB contacts and not your phone and/or Google contacts?

I use GoContacts and that's an option in the settings. I have the stock Contacts app disabled and I'm too lazy to re-enable it and look. :)
 
I solved the problem. I gave the phone to my wife and said, "I lost all my contacts phone number. Do you know how to fix it?". She grabbed it, pushed some buttons, and she fixed the issue.

I asked what she did. She didn't know. That's my wife. She fixes the problem without ever knowing what she actually did to fix it.
