Help My Desire wiped my apps..

Went to use my phone today, not only would it not connect to the internet vai mobile data connection or wifi, when it did it had removed more than half of my previously installed apps.... eventually they all 'turned up' but one, Soundhound had reinstalled twice and both times the paid version....

Anyone know why ??
 
Reboot didn't cure it but is seems ok now, as long as I don't get charged again for my paid apps (soundhound).... Is the marketplace that vunerable ?

Also, as we no longer have the same backup facility on 2.2 if I had loads of apps how would i know exactly which/how mny apps I had installed?
