Yes probly yet another question into this topic, but here goes..
Ok so I am switching to verizon from sprint. I checked out the whole amazon deal and the deals in verizon store, and have quite the dilemma. I wanted to switch immediately from sprint as I am on a shared plan and that person has already bought and received phones through amazon wireless and will be shutting off the sprint service soon. I decided to take a look at all verizons phones, and stumbled upon the HTC Trophy, for a penny on amazonwireless! Yes I know its a bit old, and not near as nice as the new one coming out (which I will get to) but I really like the windows minimalistic os. I know its not 4g, but I dont expect to see that where I live, for a very long time. And less apps, but I realized I really dont need all that, although it is quite fun... So anyways I figured I would be good for a couple years until I get an upgrade, perfect timing, for perhaps a newer windows 4g lte phone with 4g at my house! Hopeful wishing anyways..
Then I stumbled upon the Razr MAXX! Wow. I was quite impressed. For those of you that dont know about it yet, check it out on Motorola's website..
I bought a 3500 mah battery for my evo after i was terribly upset about having to buy more charging cables for my truck, one at home that came with it, and one at work. Boy have I been spoiled with that battery.. It will last me all day long with very very heavy use, and just barely start to say to put it on the charger. And it will still last for hours on standby. I think I tested it to last like over 50 hrs with very little use on one charge when i got it past the charging cycles.. Also I have never even turned on 4G because come to find out, 4G is taking way too long to expand, which sprint pretty much lied to me stating when the evo released, that 4G WILL expand quickly. pfft.. And this was after I had to pay full retail price for my evo.. Please dont comment on that because getting into how unlucky I am for washing my htc hero with my laundry like 2 weeks after i got it (w/o insurance) would be too painful, lol..
So... The price difference between amazonwireless and verizon stores are insane. Basically, Verizon wants to charge me like $200 to turn the phone on and show me how to use it. Because on the verizon website, yes the VERIZON website not amazon, the HTC Trophy is $29.99. In store its like $229.99 if I remember correctly. Thats out the door price, then u get rebates or something so its like $150 i think it was, idk.. But then on amazon its a penny..
Back to the Razr, the rep i talked to said it SHOULD be releasing jan 26th.. He was pretty convinced but couldnt give me 100% guarantee. But I believed him. Also he said it was going to be $199.99 on a new contract!!!
Hold on a minute, let me scratch my head and think about this for a minute..
If I get the HTC Trophy, its $230.. Get the new razr its $200.. Hmmm...
Oh but amazon has the trophy for a penny.. But I heard you cant change your service plans.. Well.. Hell.. Please tell me this is as confusing as I think it is. ha.
What I was thinking, is I should just order the darn HTC Trophy on amazonwireless and play with it for a few days and if I dont like it, I'll just return it and cancel everything within my 14 days or whatever. Or 30 days, idk which it is. Amazon says 30 days for the phone, but you have 14 days to cancel your service before termination fees..
Keep in mind I have also considered staying with sprint until the razr releases, but I really want to try the trophy first. And I dont wanna be stuck w/o a phone until the 26th, if indeed that is the actual release day.. Which I suppose would be the best way to go at this point and save me this confusion..
So my main question is, if I order the Trophy on amazon, and return it and cancel service, will I be able to just go into a verizon store and do it over again with the Razr at the new contract price? Or will they say no since I just cancelled my first contract?
Oh and if i just go through verizon store, and pay $229 for the trophy, then exchange it before 14 days, they gonna refund that $30 for the newer cheaper razr maxx??
