Help My Droid Incredible will NOT go into landscape mode! Help please.

Okay, when I first got my phone, it was working perfectly. It's been a few weeks and fairly recently, my phone has decided that it will not go into landscape mode (for anything). Now, I have already made sure that the auto rotate function is selected, I have reset the phone, taken out the battery many times, I have restarted the phone, and etc... When I go into to the phone to re-calibrate it, every single time I try it says "calibration aborted" ... which I'm sure is why my phone won't rotate anymore. It would make complete sense. And YES the phone was laying flat on its back with the camera touching the flat surface... that is NOT the problem. I've pretty much had the same apps since before the problem started so what in the world could be wrong!?? :( Why won't my phone calibrate anymore? My other question is, if I can't fix it, and I really don't wanna have to order another phone and start over, is there an app or something that I can use to re-calibrate my phone instead of using the g-sensor so it will work?? I'm desperate. Thanks so much for any help!

if a factory reset hasn't fixed it, there isn't too much that you can do. The sensor itself could be broken. can try this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate&hl=en
or
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.coinsoft.android.orientcontrol&hl=en

other than that,

the only option you have left is to attempt to reload the OS. However since HTC has not released the files for the latest version for the Incredible, you would have to root the phone and get "s-off" to load a slightly older version.

but even after doing that, the problem may still not be fixed because like i said above, it could be a hardware problem.

Thank you very much. I am worried that something has broken, especially since I have not done anything harmful to the phone. I will try the apps! Hopefully something works.
