Hey guys, I've been luking around here for a while and finally registered and wanted to put up some feedback....the history of my phone goes as started with official DI18, update.zip to DK28, odin'ed back to DI18 then Samsung's update to EB13, and now finally used samsung's update to go back to DI18.
Right off the rip after getting EB13 on the phone I noticed that it definatly did not run as smooth as DI18. I came across the power delay bug, missed some calles and texts that didn't sound the notifications, had a literal 4 second rotation lag, had issues getting google maps to know it had a network connection....then I finally got in some crap because my texts were not being sent out....all of them were sitting noting that they were "sending."
I liked a lot of the new look and the new touch wiz is nice....but the texting baloons...I mean, the idea is ok but the "lets pick colors from the puke pile" just puts it over the top- I definatly feel like they should have made it user selectable.
I'm surprised that they made so many of the changes to the user experience that they did...I don't quite get why they would change so much of the things we identify the phone with as being the Epic. I mean the new icons in the main menu are great, but the change in the alarm clock was interesting.
The last thing I'd like to say is that if this is the result of rigerous testing....wow. It's good, but the bugs make me feel like I have the touch pro in my hands again. Overall I was quite disappointed- my personal belief is that Samsung doesn't really allocate much to software beyond the first release and it's a shame ecause a lot of us like their hardware so much- it's almost like if you don't like something about what you might be interested in from samsung, don't buy it- love it or hate it from the get go.
btw, yes I did factory reset before and after the update and ran the calibration for the sensor.
Another thing- when you guys run the Speed Test, does the needle move jaggedly up and down or is it always smooth? I get good trasfer rates, but it seems really inconsistant 97% of the time reguardless of signal strength.
