My Experience with Kit Kat (Android 4.4)

Titanium Backup has been updated and now supports ART. :)

Excellent info mate cheers!!! *runs to Play Store* :)

Lol. About my 380 DPI. It doesnt affect anything much other than text. Means i dont need glasses :D

Oh yeah aparently the Xposed dev has to fully rebuild the app from the ground up to get it workin with ART :(

UPDATE TiBu is updating fine. Havent tried restore.
Is it gona matter that some of my backup is made in Dalvik and some in ART?

No other apps that ive noticed other than Adobe Flash and Xposed framework.
someone posted a list of apps that do and dont work but i found it to be wrong.
Rom Toolbox Pro isnt letting me change font :(

UPDATE aparently TiBu wont restore apps backed up in Dalvik to a rom running ART which isnt a problem since when we clean flash a new rom, its running on Dalvik anyway by default so we just restore TiBu then switch to ART. im yet to find out what happens with apps backed up while in ART though lol.....

That's exactly what I was wondering. When I sent the dev an email requesting an update that made TB compatible with ART, I included a long-winded rambling waffle about the possible complications of backing up some apps in one runtime and other apps in the other.

Probably just made him shake his head.

Ah.

How do you mean "wont restore apps backed up in Dalvik to a rom running ART"? does it refuse to restore? or does it restore, but they don't work properly?

Also, wouldn't a wipe of dalvik cache in recovery make android update all the restored apps to the correct runtime at reboot?

I have no idea bro, second hand info lol :D
And d'oh i probably sent a near identical email to the TiBu dev when i updated lol :)
Think you could be right about wiping dalvik mate.
ive never clean flashed a 4.4 rom since using ART though so tbh, my phone is probs in a mess n i dont know man :)

@funky, you really should try the google experience launcher, it's pretty nice.

I really think they should add some more customization, but this is my inner Nova speaking haha, since that's literally been my launcher for every build I have for the past year and a half. :p

Also @bread, you should try some of the new GNex roms, I added a few more to the Verizon list and they're based on CM11 and pretty decent.

Best battery life so far though is SlimKat, although I think it is also one of the most unstable.

i promise ill try it mate but i dont know what the benefit would be. Voice rec' doesnt work with my ghetto glasgow accent and GNow is fairly neutered here and i already have a swipe up gesture to launch it so i duno what id like about it. Can all the usual custom icons, widgets get used with it?
Ill try it later instead of flashing a nightly and maybe be pleasantly surprised.
Oh does it have a backup/restore function?
And can persistant searchbar be removed? I hate that pointless thing lol :D

Personally I like how the navbar is transparent vs. Robbing the last 1/3 of the screen and how the icons appear to float on the wallpaper since they finally removed the dock separator.

All widgets work but I never use them much seeing as I come from the iPhone and the weather widget was replaced by GNow, and the battery gauge up top makes a battery widget pointless and redundant, and the toggles being added to quick settings makes a power control widget redundant as well

I downloaded power toggles because i feel that quick settings leave a bit to be desired. Only wifi and Bluetooth can be directly tougher in direct settings. The rest take you to their respective menus.

Whatever the quick toggles lack the voice control apps can do. BTW holding down the option will bypass the menu link and toggle it on/off

I know. But I wish you could customize the quick settings and add your own toggles to it. Such as mobile data, flashlight, sync, etc.

So I have all of those on my home screen in a power toggle, as well as pinned to the notification window(that way I don't have to pull down with two fingers or press the quick settings button).
