My failed attempt to get 3G to 4G discount online

Lurker
Here's my chat transcript with the Verizon online sales rep. He seemed determined to convince me that I should buy the phone from Verizon instead of a discounted Nexus from a 3rd party retailer. Poorly informed about the third party retailers terms and conditions. Ended rather abruptly

I have a Thunderbolt. Purchased the Razr from Amazon last month for a penny. Not happy with the thick bezel(made the screen seem smaller than my TB) and strange handgrip. Was in the process of returning so I could get the GNex. Ordered the GNex from Letstalk with $75 discount. Considering cancelling after hearing about poor battery and signal, and getting from Verizon directly so I could return/exchange if unhappy with it.

Rep name removed:*Through Verizon Wireless online?
me:*yes
Rep name removed:*Okay, how long ago?
Rep name removed:*Because I have yet to hear about this discount unfortunately.
me:*past few weeks
Rep name removed:*Really? That hasn't been an offer we have had.

Rep name removed:*What device are you looking to upgrade to?
me:*the samsung galaxy nexus
me:*nice phone, but a bit pricey at 299
Rep name removed:*Yeah, it is, but you get what you pay for!
me:*yes, but you can pay a bit less thru 3rd party retailers like amazon, wirefly, or letstalk. I'd prefer to go thru verizon, but the price difference is significant right now.
Rep name removed:*Have you looked at third party retailer's terms and conditions?
me:*yes, i have. I will generally keep a phone at least 6 months if not longer.
Rep name removed:*Do you change ANY THING on the plan?
me:*not really
Rep name removed:*Not even one thing?
me:*the only think I change is add/remove hotspot from time to time
Rep name removed:*That will charge *you $400
me:*nope, i have my most recent one from wirefly and modified my thunderbolt plan many times that way
me:*they charge you $250 to downgrade from what you signed up for
Rep name removed:*That's not what their terms and conditions say.
me:*"Please note some of the reasons your wireless carrier may notify us of a deactivation include if: You transfer this equipment to another carrier line of service after it is activated You change your rate plan to a lower monthly service rate than was specifically required at the point of purchase You deactivate texting/data features that were specifically required at the point of purchase The new line of service activated with your order is used to replace a pre-existing account"
me:*that's from wirefly
me:*i really don't want to get into a argument with you over getting this phone
Rep name removed:*Are ;you looking to order today Jen-Liang? If so I'd be more than happy to further assist you.
me:*thanks for your time today
