Started earlier today. It was a plentiful week filled with happy thoughts and fun. Then darkness fell.
First it was a raccoon in the trees, then raccoons in the trees, then the people on the third floor balcony spying and taking covert pictures, then it was kids playing army in the back yard. As time marched forward, the kids became soldiers with guns, face painted Africans (not African Americans) were picking fruit and watching us.
As the day turned to night and as the night progressed, there were large women pointing guns at the tenant, while hiding in the trees. And a platoon of small men in the garbage cans. And something with glowing eyes watching and laughing at us. Actually, I could not hear them.
All of this unfolded before me in my quite little house. From relatively harmless craziness to full-on nut-bar craziness.
He called 911 to report the illegal military maneuvers, we called the non-emergency police line to ask what is to be done with crazy people, and finally the cops arrived. Then the ambulance. Then the fighting, cussing, and finally, the handcuffs and stretcher.
I take pride in not putting myself in a position where I need to deal with the dark and disturbed.
It was quite a day.
