my first post not showing up ...?

Hi,
Regarding my brand-new SGS2 Epic 4g Touch phone ... I posted my first question here this morning and it's not showing up. Am I doing something wrong?

I was asking about stopping mail from coming in to my gmail account on my SGS2. The salesman at Sprint told me I have to have the Google email account on the phone in order for the other Google features to work (like syncing with calendar). But I prefer to use K9 for email, and I've set that up with my 3 email accounts. Can I stop mail from coming in to the Google email account? It's filling up fast ...

thanks (again)

Hello and welcome to Android Forums! :)

It might be better if you posted your query in the forum for the Galaxy S2 4G phone, here:-

Samsung Galaxy S 4G - Android Forums

This forum is for the Samsung Galaxy S2 (International) model which differs from yours.

Hope this helps.

(I've reported your post to the mod's and they will move it for you soon)

I'll move this over there..... stand by. :)

Oh, and to prevent Gmail from automatically syncing go to Settings/Accounts & sync, select your Google account and uncheck the Gmail entry. That should do the trick.

Actually, while we're waiting for the mod's to move your post and because it is a generic question... like you, I use K-9 for my Gmail. The only way I could stop it syncing was by freezing the gmail app with Titanium Backup, as I am rooted.

I'm not rooted. I did go to the Gmail account and all options in that account are set to not sync, unless specifically touched (to start the sync). But still the mail comes in to that gmail account. Frustrating! Maybe I should take it to the store and ask some questions.

How did you set up your email account? Using the email widget? That's what I use and have it to get emails from yahoo, hotmail, gmail and work mail. Now the point is, if you don't want to get emails from the gmail, why don't you just delete the account from there?

It does not delete the account itself, just does not sync with it because its not chosen to show....

Cheers

Hi Russell,
Actually the guy at Sprint set up the gmail account while I was in the store. He said I had to set it up with the Google g-mail because so many features on the SGS2 work through that account. I understand that - I just don't want the email coming in.

I'm going to take it back to the Sprint guy and see if he can clear this up.
