My first smart phone. Contact manager question

Hi,
I used to have a flip phone with just a few important contacts and my Laptop PC with Outlook that has my calendar and all my contacts organized in different categories.
My e mail contacts are in yahoo mail.
Now, with this new Moto X there is probably an app that would allow me to sync my calendar and my contacts between the PC and the Moto.
Before I do that I'd like to get your advice on if that is a good way to go and what the best app for that might be. Or should I just abandon Outlook altogether and start over with something different? I do have a lot of contacts and transferring that might be a real hassle for me.
I'm 58 so this tech thing can be a little challenging at times.
Can you guys help me out?

Thanks I had seen that little ad already. In the meantime I have also found Deja Office and Go Contact, both of which are free and seem to do the same thing. Does anybody here use those?
 
So I tried the go contact sync, that didn't work and then I installed Deja office on my android which was free. But to work it requires a companion software that needs to be installed on the PC where outlook is. That software is 50 bucks....so it's not free afterall

So right now I wish I still had my old flip phone...
