Very new to Tasker and thoroughly enjoying it. I am wondering if there is a way to have my phone screen automatically come on if it is lying in a face up state and I simply pick it up. Told you it was a stupid question.

It sounds like you're wanting to emulate the "wake when you pick it up" feature of the Moto X? It should be possible, but you should understand that it will likely have a significant impact on your battery life (as your phone probably doesn't have the fancy always-on sensors like the X).
In fact, this is one task that is probably easier outside of Tasker. Give Gravity Screen Off a try and see what you think.

Given then tidbit you gave about battery life, I think I will pass this one up. I'm pretty lazy just not that lazy lol. Thanks for taking the time to address my question.
