Help My Freaking S Pen just SNAPPED!

Good grief! Am I that aggressive a tapper? I was just tapping out a text and POP! Two pieces of S Pen fell to the ground!

I immediately called Samsung and was told that of course they will replace the S Pen. I just have to ship them the broken one first! WHAT??? As long as I've been a loyal customer of the Note series, they can't immediately ship me a new one and trust me to ship the broken one at the same time? Seriously - what else would I do with a broken S Pen???

You can bet I sent a rather terse message to Samsung Mobile USA on Facebook about this...

Local Samsung place wanted to take the whole phone in just for a failed s-pen. Ridic. I declined.

Is this the "ratchet" that broke on it? Which was referred to in this post here from two months ago...

Note 8 is three months old. I noticed an obvious design flaw on day one. The ratchet on the new S-pen. Sure enough, mine failed a few days ago. Very hard to remove it when the phone is in a heavy duty case. I use my S-Pen almost every time I use the phone.

Surprise, surprise! I still haven't gotten a response to my little PM from Samsung! I just bought one off eBay for $20. It'll be a spare and I'll have it Thursday instead of two weeks from now...

Chief, I'm just curious. I haven't really read any of the insurance stuff, but since this is part of the phone...do you think that your insurance will cover the S-Pen and send you one out right away? It may be worth a call.

They sure don't make them like they used to. But didn't you keep the spen from your note7? Oh yeah...they wanted those back with the phones. Dang it!
