Click on the Misc. Files menu item. A new window should open, where you can see what is taking up all the space. There, you can also delete what you don't need any longer.

Ok thx, was wondering about. On mine for example, i did that and saw as one of the items one of my apps displaying a few mb's. If i were to delete that, would it mess up the app or would it clear the cache or data from that app? Just wondering, any info would be appreciated. Thx

What would be the consequences if all the misc. files in the storage screen in settings were deleted? Would it cause problems with android or with the apps that r installed on the phone? Would like to know. My friends phone is now full and after she deleted her music on her phone. Any info. would be helpful in tryin to solve this. Ty

You could factory reset as well as wipe the sdcard, but that's a little drastic. :D

My impression from the screen shots is she has lots of music and videos on the device.

Benjie; i think they were on the phone, she used those music download apps. But when i talked with her last, she said she deleted the music.

Colchiro; i dont know how much music she had, but ur right she likes to take videos of a few seconds each and she also likes to take pics as well, so i think she has a lot of them too.

I had also thought about a factory reset but thought it would be complicated for her to do, i would have to talk her thru it. So im tryin to find something thats easy for her to do to free up space, with as little explanation as possible.

Her Misc files are the biggest space hogger at 6GB. Does she have cloud sync enabled? Hard to say what's in the misc files. Her SD card is also jammed up.

Best practice would be to hook the phone to the PC and transfer stuff off and archiving. That way you don't accidentally delete something you might actually need. Also try clean master to clear the cache files once in a while. That can take up space over a period of time as well.

+1... plug the phone into her PC and copy over all media of value.

To factory reset is easy.... settings... backup and reset... factory reset. Might want to make sure that "Back up my data" is already checked. If not, then check it and wait a couple days before resetting.

What do you mean by SD card? A sdcard plugged into her phone? You might make that bigger and make sure the camera uses it. (Internal memory often mimics an sdcard.)
