Help My Galaxy S2 is being very janky. Questions

When I first got my Galaxy S2, I loved it so much. It was a great, new phone with so many cool features. Now, 1 1/2 years later, I still enjoy it but I have many defects that I don't like so much.

My #1 concern is that my phone will think its charging when its not even plugged in. This happens primarily whenever I unplug the USB, or I put in a new charged battery. This is annoying because it will constantly do the beeping noise until I mute it, and it will unlock my screen causing the battery to decay quicker. Not only that, but it ALWAYS thinks its charging when my phone is off, and is a pain to turn on (hard to explain precisely what happens, basically I have to hold the power button at perfect timing to get it to turn on, UNLESS it's actually plugged in).

Along with the concerns above, when it thinks its charging, whenever trying to access it as a HDD to my computer, it will continue to tell me to "unplug the connected USB"...although there is nothing plugged into it.

Sorry for the rant. Does anyone else have these issues? I'm pretty sure I could get it fixed by getting a new USB port at a phone fixing business, but I can get a new phone soon... what do you guys think I should do?

Thank you!

Tanner

Does sound like you could have an issue with the USB or the power button.

Whether its worth getting the phone repaired would depend on a few things like how much the problem bugs you, whether the phone is still under warranty (if you're in Europe, then it is unless there's water damage), if there's no warranty, how much a repair would cost and finally, if you can live without the phone for the time it takes for the repair.

For me, I'd get it repaired but YMMV :D

think its charging when its not even plugged in.

Probably corrosion in the USB port. I had a similar issue shortly after I got splashed by water with my (Sprint) Galaxy S2 in my pocket. The phone thought it was charging, then it thought it was on the audio dock, then charging again, etc.

I used a soft-bristled toothbrush with some 90%+ rubbing alcohol and scrubbed the external USB port on the phone. Haven't seen any problems since.

If this doesn't work, take the phone apart, and (gently) scrub in/under/around the whole USB jack to remove any corrosion.

If THAT doesn't work, you'll probably need to get the jack replaced.

Give it a try and let us know what you found!
