My Gallery, My Library Disappointment

This device had me so frustrated I wanted to spike it. Ended up relying on it during a once in a lifetime opportunity to be on the field at Wrigley Field, batting, catching, etc. Girlfriend was taking pics and videos of me and this thing would not work right. Wouldn't go back to the screen with red video start button after shooting a video, whole device would go black sometimes, completely unresponsive. Couldn't view pictures and videos on My Gallery and My Library to make sure they were being saved, as the other problems made this a concern. After getting the chance to charge it for a while, it became extremely hot and the battery began rapidly discharging without using anything on it. Had to turn the power off to get it to cool down. After turning it back on, battery continued to drain until it died completely. After a full charge that night, was able to view the pics and videos she took, but she would have gotten many more if the darn thing wasn't malfunctioning. I posted one of the vids to FB and it has now disappeared from the phone.
Before people shoot me down: battery had a full charge to start, had plenty of storage space available on SD card (about 14GB).
I've been pretty happy with this device until now. This has made me think about ditching this phone. Will ICS make a difference?

Have you downloaded one of the free file explorer apps from the market? You might be able to find the missing media that way.

Also keep in mind that the default setting is to save pics and videos on the internal SD card, not the external one. I will go out on a limb and bet that the 14GB available you saw was the external card. The internal card is also 16GB, but since everything defaults to it, then I would doubt you had 14GB available. You can go to Storage in the Settings menu and "Manage" it, which basically means move it from one to the other. File explorer apps help. I also renamed my external Sd card sd-ext, so I could differentiate them when looking at the files. I wish there was a way to change the default save option, but I can't find one.
