Help my Google Keep dicated notes aren't saved as recordings anymore

When you dictate a voice note (by pressing the mic),Google Keep should save both a text transcription of your voice AND a recording.

That’s the way it works on my Kyocera Hydro Icon running 4.4.2

That’s the way it used to work on my rooted AT&T Galaxy S4 running 4.3...

...until I did factory data reset and upgraded my AT&T Galaxy S4 to rooted 4.4.4 and reinstalled Keep from playstore. Since then it doesn't work any more (only saves text but not recording now).

Things I've tried:
* cleared Keep cache and data, uninstalled Keep, reinstalled Keep
* Verified Keep is most recent version, "Google" (services) is most recent version, Google Now is most recent version.
* disabled Firewall
* disabled all Xposed modules (I have no other root customizations besides firewall and xposed)

Additional info:
* Other google apps installed on my phone: Google Voice, Google TTS

This is driving me crazy. Any suggestions? (For the phone, not for my craziness)
Does anyone else have this problem? (google search didn't show much).
Is anyone else using Keep with Android 4.4.4?

I just tried this in Keep 3.0.03 on my Moto X running 4.4.4 and see no sign off a saved recording that I can play back. I get the same result on my Nexus 7 running 5.0.2 with the same version of Keep.

I've never used this feature before so I don't really know what I'm looking for. Maybe I'm missing something.

Thanks. That's a good data point.

On my s4 running older 4.3 and my Kyocera Icon running 4.4.2, after recording a voice memo, a right-facing-triangule-shaped "play" button shows up below the text... (visible both in edit mode and in list mode).

So the data points mentioned so far in this thread, all 4.4.4 and later don't save recording. All 4.4.2 and earlier do. Maybe something changed in the Android system between 4.4.2 and 4.4.4 that disabled this feature?

That would be disappointing... I loved that feature and used it all the time. Great for recording quick notes on the go (while driving maybe). You just talk and don't have to worry about looking to see if is transcribed correctly... if the note doesn't make sense when you look at it later you can just replay the audio.
