Root My htc is bricked

samalos

Lurker
Tried to convert the htc to a developer edition using the "How to Convert Your HTC One into a Developer Edition for Super Fast Updates" HowTo and something went wrong.
After finishing the recovery, the device boots into the bootloader. Trying to reboot to the system using "fastboot", flashing custom recovery (twrp-2.8.7.0-m8), or trying flashing custom ROMs did not solve the problem. Can only boot into the twrp recovery and after reboot only to the bootloader. Tried everything but nothing boots into the system.

Any help will be very appreciated!

Thanks!

Moved to the root forum for the M8.

You're going to have to do better at describing what you did than a title (the Internet is a big place) and "something went wrong."

Please give me the fastboot getvar all details with this procedure -

http://androidforums.com/index.php?posts/7022548

And everything it says on the bootloader screen from the very top down to and including the date.

In addition, a link to the actual instructions you used and EXACTLY what step went wrong.

It'll probably save time if you describe what you mean by "tried everything" as well.

With luck, your phone may be saved.

I'm on travel so I'm not going to be providing instant responses.

Hi!
Thanks for the reply!
I have originally Verizon HTC One M8. I uze it outside the US and not with Verizon SIM of course. I wanted to get rid of the Verizon pop-ups and messages so I did the following:

1. Using http://theroot.ninja/ i have turned to s-off.
2. Using htcdev I have unlocked my bootloader (i did not get the confirmation yes-no at the end, but the phone has restarted and the bootloader showed "unlocked")
3. I installed on the PC kingo-root and rooted the phone.
4. As i still could not turn off the messages I decided to flash another ROM and used this HowTo:
http://htc-one.wonderhowto.com/how-...edition-for-super-fast-sense-updates-0156524/
5. In step 2 of the HowTo I did not put the recovery files in a correct directory (i named it with a different name, i don't remember how).
6. Step 3 of the HowTo was ok, but step 4, when I chose to wipe the selected, it failed, so i clicked "factory reset" instead.
7. After the factory reset, I wiped the requested in the previous step and it was ok.
8. When I tried step 5 of the How To, I could not find the recovery files (probably because I named it wrong)
9. I rebooted to the recovery and in the wipe menu clicked format.
10. I tried to flash a new custom ROM using your perfect guide (http://androidforums.com/threads/he...internal-storage-and-os-on-htc-one-m8.906784/) but after it worked and the installer finished, the phone rebooted to bootloader and not to a system.
11. I tried few different ROMs and the same behavior was obserevd (after the installer finishes, it reboots to bootloader).
12. I tried to use "fastboot reboot" command, or shut down the bootloader and then turn on, but the device is not continuing loading to the system.
13. I went back to the HowTo and did the exact steps as stated there, and the same happened (after I finish the recovery from the image, the phone reboots to a bootloader and is stuck there).
14. I installed the last twrp recovery, but it still did not help.
15. Now, no matter what I do, I cannot load to the system (either bootloader or the recovery only).

The phone is at home now, ill do the getvar when I come back from work and post it here.

Thanks a lot for the help!!!

OK, excellent write up!!

Please see if you can get to the bootloader, and tell me exactly what it says from the top of the screen down to and including the date.
