Help my infuse not loving it right now

When i put in my password to unlock my screen and touch the ok, my phone freezes. The only way to fix it is to take out the battery.
I had my phone freeze on me b4 and i had to take out the battery but now this is happening way to often.
I had this phone almost 2 yrs (in July) never did any type of upgrades. Im still on froyo.
But Im thinking of upgrading to gb.
By upgrading Will this help? Should i reset my phone.
How do u do a reset?
I backed up my stuff.

Any advice would be great. I plan on getting a new phone but not til later this ur.

Thanks
llap

I have never seen an OS upgrade fix a pre-existing problem.

Try doing a Recovery boot:
* Press and hold the volume-up, volume-down, and power buttons simultaneously
* When the Samsung logo appears, release the power button, but continue depressing the volume rockers
* When the yellow text appears, release the volume rockers
In the following steps, make your selection (up/down) using the volume rockers, and then excute it by momentarily pressing the power button.
* Select "delete cache data"
* Select "reboot system now"

Any better?

I noticed that my phone is using more ram then usual. Not sure if this is causing my phone to freeze on me.
I did upgrade GB and at first everything seemed fine.
But today when i woke up yesterday morning and put in my password to unlock the screen my phone freezed on me. The only way to fix it, is, by taking the battery out. Before the upgrade from froyo this was happening often.
But i never had this type of problem before. This started happening about a week or 2 ago.

Not sure if means my phone is slowly dying on me or what.
