My little review of the LG Spirit

I already posted most of this as an answer on another thread but thought I'd make it it's own thread. Just because i like to annoy people with lots of threads lol here you go. Hope this helps anyone trying to make their decision on this phone either upgrading or coming in fresh to Metro Pcs.

It's extremely quick and snappy, the screen is really responsive. Everyone that has fooled with mine is really surprised by how sensitive the screen is. They say wow this is sooo smooth.

There is no lag out of the box on the Spirit. I haven't found any issues with apps crashing or freezing, Everything so far works very well. One thing I did find annoying is that native widgets like weather and music do not work with other launchers. I'm not sure why that is.. They don't even show up in the menu list.

I like the launcher that comes with the Spirit, you can customize the dock icons. Only thing I didn't like is that the App Drawer scrolls horizontally and I like vertical scrolling. It would have been nice if they gave us the choice. MAYBE NEXT PHONE LG?

The only metro app that is some what annoying is the easy WiFi, but you can turn that off. It just leaves the icon on the status bar.

The only thing I wanted root for is to get rid of stuff I don't use. There are a few apps I use that need root..like quick boot and root explorer. It would be nice if LG would create their own quick boot like app.. I HATE HAVING TO FOOL WITH THE POWER BUTTON.

I don't think this phone really need a custom ROM. Like most other phones out of the box..

You can customize a lot on this phone from the get go... For instance you can change the background of the app drawer. The backup app on here is pretty cool, I've had factory rest happen on the phone a few times trying root exploits and that backup app has come in handy. It put everything back the way I had it. (yes I know the Motion has this app also, but being that I never had a motion, only fooled around with other people's motion. to use it. I'm talking from my experience with it on the Spirit)

Even though LG has gone to great lengths to block root. They have also tried to give us some freedom with customization and the backup app. The only thing I wish I could change is the white back ground on the menus.. I'm red\green color blind and the white with black lettering is a strain on my eyes. But I've notice that's a Google thing now... Stupid YouTube update.

The loud speaker on this phone is really loud.. I can walk into another room away from the phone and still hear it clearly.. I've even had to turn the volume down because it would be to loud.

No LED notification.. I haven't even missed it. The Phone does really well at letting you know when you get a message.. txt and that. When you miss a call you will know, also when you get a call, the dang thing nearly vibrates off a table.

All in all I think people should go to a Metro Authorized dealer and ask if you can handle one or go to a Metro PCS corporate store and try out the live display model, its really the only way you will get a true feel and idea what the phone is.

Like i said in another thread; quote: " I think like me, most people buying this phone might think OMG what did I do, but after using it for a while you get to know it. I was playing with my Esteem yesterday and it felt so foreign to me. big and balky. This phone really is a big adjustment...update: we now have root and a "temporary" recovery app.

cheers! happy Phoning.. is that a word? well it is now lol :D

I cannot figure out how to create a thread in any of my forum apps.
You should post the name of the app your interested in using so someone that uses it can point you in the right direction.

In the mean time you can use the phones browser to start a new thread.

Having a problem with app lag, Random app closings, text not going into selected field when typing, etc. This happened with my htc one v also.
