Help My Maxx ISSUE(S)

rahola

Lurker
So I've had my Maxx pretty much since it came out. About a month ago my phone started randomly rebooting. The different colors in the Motorola logo concerned me but I've since found out that's normal. Now it seems my phone is just dying. Verizon told me about the hard reset. I've had to do this 5 times in the last few weeks. I'm at a loss. I've done a factory reset and wiped the cache as Motorola suggested. I'm also having issues with loss of haptic feedback. Anyways. I just got off the phone with Verizon and my new Maxx will be here next week... FINGERS CROSSED cause I LOVE this phone! (When working properly)...

Welcome to Android Forums.

The different colors in the logo was done on purpose. It was even mentioned in the release information because someone thought it was cool.

Did you ever try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them) and if the problem stops you know it was caused by an app you added.

Welcome to the forums, rahola! :)

I'm sorry to hear that you had issues with what I hear (and you confirm) is otherwise a solid handset. Hopefully the new one works well for you.

By the very nature of manufacturing, some percentage of all phones that are manufactured are defective. Making the manufacturing process perfect is prohibitively expensive, and some slip through quality control cracks. That's why we have warranties, which thankfully you're already exercising. I hope it works out the best for you :) hope to see you around on the forums.

Random reboots do happen to some people, and those sorts of problems are hard to diagnose. (Mine has done so twice, both after being powered up for a bit over three weeks without restarting. Restarting once a week as a "fix' is completely acceptable to me, in this case.)

However, I think that replacing the phone is the right thing, based on the other problems you've had. Good luck with the replacement!

Hi Rahola,

One other thing I'd like to add, you didn't mention above if you were using any kind of task killer/manager, but based upon the description of your problem that is a possibility. Be sure NOT to install ATK or any other kind of task manager/killer. Android doesn't need them.

I hope your next device is flawless!! It really is a great phone. The best I've owned. And that's saying a lot, because those from the GNex forums know how much I gushed over my Nex :)

Just A quick update. I did get my replacement Maxx and everything was looking good until the display went out. Called Verizon and the hard rest fixed the issue... For a couple hours. Granted, this was a refurb so who the heck knows. Needless to say I'm expecting my second replacement Maxx tomorrow. Fingers crossed!! Verizon has been very helpful and even offered me free overnight shipping.
