My Monster iSports Headphone's mic does not work with the LG connect

Well i just recently bought these headphones and the mic doesnt seem to work with the phone. It works on a Samsung Galaxy S2 but not with the LG connect. Help?
 
I have the same issue with my Sony headset (made for iPhone) but not my standard headset from rocket fish (no mention of iPhone on the package).... weird.

Curious .... i came to this page looking for this particular answer.

LG Connect 4g metroPCS
Android 2.3.6
Skullcandy (pic attached)

On my old phone i used to be able to answer a phonecall and talk via the headphone microphone. The connect 4g does not recognize it :(

I'm wondering if its the version of android causing the problem. Also ... I'm rooted.

Well i had the 2 phones with the same android OS both rooted and the other phone worked while the lg connect did not work with my Monster iSports. I couldnt find a solution so i just switched to the samsung galaxy s3 :)
