Help My Optimus S has many issues (v2.3.3)

My phone has been having many problems lately. They just started happening, I never dropped my phone or mistreated it or anything. I am just going to list the problems and any help is appreciated.

This happens randomly: After putting my phone in standby, the screen refuses to turn on. The 4 buttons at the bottom light up and the volume controls works when this happens while listening to music. The only way to get it back on is to do a battery pull.

This just started recently and happens randomly: My phone will stop taking charge. Ive even tried diffrent chargers so it seems like the problem is coming from the phone. The only way to get it to charge is the restart the phone. Also something I noticed: When I do a battery pull while my phone is taking charge, it will stall for about 4 seconds before turning off. But if I battery pull while the charging bug occurs, it will instantly turn off as if it was just ignorning the charger altogether.

Another problem is that my music stops playing for no reason. This happens in the stock music app only. The music stops at random times on any song. When it happens, the music icon disapears for a second in the status bar and comes back. When I view the song it will be paused at 0 seconds.

Another problem is that my phone slows down when I hold my finger on the screen. Its not drastic but it is very noticeable. This very annoying when im playing games that.require me to touch the screen.

Thats pretty much it and again any help is appreciated, Thanks in advanced.

Can you line up the time this started happening coinciding with any apps you installed? It sounds very possible that some nasty gremlin is causing all this, but I have no clue as to what.

Beyond that, it is possible to revert back to 2.2.2 Froyo. I ended up doing that for other reasons, but don’t miss Gingerbread at all.

All of these problems started happening after I upgraded to 2.3.3 now that I think about it...but.not all at once. The first one was the screen not turning back on error. This started happening around the time I downloaded Soundcloud.

The problem with my phone slowing down simply by touching it was around as long as I can remeber. However I didn't notice it until I downloaded Droidemulite which requires heavy use of the screen.

The music stopping problem is very recent. It started happpening around the time I downloaded music junk.

The charging problem is also recent and started around the time I got Fast Reboot.

It does sound like third-party apps may be the cause. What I’d do is make list of what you need to have, then a Settings> Privacy> Factory Data Reset. Then if everything behaves that way, add those apps one at a time, checking everything along the way.

As for 2.3.3 being the culprit, I had problems with it too, like it not remembering whether it was muted. You can revert back to 2.2.2 using Sprint’s update.zip, which they released after the first Gingerbread debacle about a year ago. In my case, trying that resulted in a trip to the Sprint store to get it to wake up, but all has behaved since.

If it were mine, I would in this order:
1. Uninstall any app downloaded since the update.
2. Turn off any live wallpaper.
3. Do a hard boot by turning off and removing the battery.
4. Proceed with future changes slowly and observe results.
