I just got got done LITERALY spending 3 hours at my local AT&T store (to the shagrin of the people working there im sure since I was kinda pestering them and I think you irritate anyone working off comition when you just browse for 3 hours) and after testing the Iphone 4, Motorola Atrix and the HTC Inspire, I have come to the conclusion that I want to get a Android phone. I like how Android does theyres interfaces and how they lay stuff out more then iOS. I realized that my big hangup with the Android was the game aspect and the app aspect. I was afraid that if I went android, I wouldnt get the apps and games I wanted that Itunes had. Well, after thinking about it some more, I realized that I have really wained from handheld gaming over the years. Sure, ill buy the new DS and PSP when they come out at some point, but really im not that big into it anymore, meaning gaming wasnt really a massive point in deciding between the two. Chances are both are going to have the same fun bite sized game that super popular either simulatneously or at some point down the line, and im sure ANdroid is going to start to get more and more full feature games as time goes by (atleast I hope) However, if it dosent, I dont think itll be that big of a deal to me. I realized that im going to be using this smartphone more for cool apps then games. And speaking of apps, I browsed through the android store to try and find the apps I know I would want day 1 with my smart phone, and they were on both marketplaces or they had a equivalent. Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, pandora, gamefly gamescenter are on both OS's, and those are the ones I know I DEFINETLY want on day one. And honestly, really im going to love the android anyway because its my first smartphone, so people that have had both in the past may think its not as good as iphone, but really ill still be in awe probaly with whatever I get because its exposing me to a whole new world.
So, now comes the time to decide on a Android phone. Like I said, I have AT&T. Wished I had Verizon. Nothing i can do. So now I need to pick the right Android phone. Ive tested out nearly everything on the Atrix and the Inspire, and ive come to these conclusions:
Atrix: I think the screen and speed was better then the Inspire. Web browsing seemed more responsive, particularly on scrolling and pinch zooming. Camera was worse and I thought the UI wasnt as good as the inspire, but UI wasnt unnavigable. I thought the keybord was worse than the Inspire, but I dont know if I can change this. I dont know how the Atrixs 4G speeds are.
Inspire: I thought the UI, Camera and Keyboard were better then the Atrix. battery life is worse then Atrix, which concerns me. Is technicaly weaker then the Atrix with its 1 core Processor which concerns me on how itll perform in the coming years. Reviews say 4G speeds arent great (dont know if that can be fixed with Updates)
Basicaly, if I can have the Atrix's muscle in the Inspire 4G with a better battery life and screen, that would be perfect, but both of these phones have pros and cons that im having trouble deciding on which are more important to me. Basicaly its down to Atrix having more processing power and better screen versus Inspire with the better UI and Camera with better keyboard. And my worrys with the Atrix is the UI and camera and my worrys with the Inspire are the single core processor, battery life and supposed bad 4G speeds. Im not sure if I should be worrying about 4G speeds when deciding since 4G is pretty limited right now.
I did notice that the Inspire seemed plenty fast, however Atrix was faster.
I should note I have no interest what so ever in that asanine laptop dock for the Atrix.
So, what do you guys think is the better phone for me? The Atrix or the Inspire. Should I be worrying about the Inspire single core CPU? I would like to have some future proofing, however i dont know if I want to sacrafice UI and Camera for it.
