Help My Phone says it's connected but doesn't charge.

Lurker
I have a Nexus S 4g and when i plug it in, it says it's connected, and shows me the battery percentage, but doesn't charge. I got a new battery today, and it still does the same thing so I know that's not the problem. I looked at other threads similar to my problem on this site and found no help.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Are you using the charger that came with it? Plugged into the computer or wall or have you tried both.

You know, I'm sure glad I'm not the ONLY one with this problem. I started Android with the DINC (1) and rarely had that happen from the wall outlet. Then I got a Droid X and I get it much more often. I used the chargers with each that came with the device, so no swapping, although the idea that the phone knows the difference seems a bit odd. I played by the rules, and in fact two nights ago, no charge. Woke up with the lightening bolt on the battery, and less than 10% left.

Poo.

Thanks for asking!:(

The phone actually sort of knows the type of charger. It requires a specific range of mA to function correctly. Too much will damage the phone and too little it will detect the charger but not charge.

My guess is there is a short in your charger cord, which would explain why both using a wall charger and USB result in the same issue.
