Help My phone would not boot and Odin would not finish

disking

Lurker
Like the title says my phone would not boot and i try everything to get it to work but it all failed. I am in Romania i am visiting from Canada. i got the phone reprogrammed here. this was hard as i dont speak much romanian. i changed to a local sim card. but now i can not get past the sim look screen. if i dismiss this screen i can turn on wifi and browse ok but it says every 2 mine "Unfortunately, Google Account Manager has stopped working." I try to put the sim pin # in that is on the sim card but it says pin not accepted. i buy a new cheap phone and try this sim in it and the code works. i try my old sim in it from canada and it not ask me for a sim code. when i first got this phone it was locked to the virgin network in canada. i unlocked the phone a long time ago and the sim too. the phone still says every 2 mins "Unfortunately, Google Account Manager has stopped working." now i can not get the play store to work because of google. so i can not download sim unlock and i can not root this phone as i dont know what os they put on it.

if you need more info from my phone i can supply anyone with what info they need

i love this phone and i want it alive again

We have seen this sort of thing happen before on here. Basically, a phone is sim unlocked from the carrier but after a firmware upgrade or change, the sim lock reappears.

I'm guessing that Romanian firmware for the GT-i9100 was used to replace the Canadian, "M", variant, firmware, GT-i9100M, and this has caused the problem.
You will need to get your phone unlocked again I am afraid. If you do so on the non, "M", variant, then the same thing may well happen again when/if you switch back to the Canadian, "M", variant firmware which you will need for Canadian network compatibility.

To check the OS, input *#1234# into the dial pad and you will see 3 or 4 lines of information. Check this against #1.1 of the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide. The original CSC code for Virgin, Canada, on Gingerbread and ICS was BMC. On Jelly Bean it is now OYC.
