Figured I would start a thread to share some of the things ive figured out. Posted some in threads already but figured better to post a thread. I will update this as I figure out new stuff. Ill add them to this post for ease but it won't bump the thread so check back in.

Rooting 2.3.4 with transformdatphone.bat
PDAnet usb tether works with out root. If you are using it make sure you exit the pc client before trying to root.
CHARGER/USB CABLES ARE THE DEVIL
these cables samsung ships are kinda delicate. There is a chip in the phone end.
I have one that will charge the phone (pc and wall) but won't make a connection to the pc to mount.
If you are having odd problems like unpacking zips/rar on pc and transfering them to the sdcard and getting a checksum fail it could be a problem with your cable.
not all usb cables work with this phone. I bought one that would charge it but nothing else out the box. Can pick the samsung cable up cheap on Amazon or here is a site with em cheap HandHelditems: samsung transform ultra
SDCARD SPACE AND BACKUP SIZE.
Cwm uses a huge amount of space for backups. Figure on needing atleast 1gb free on your sdcard. Stripped phone almost back to stock removed all pics and media and the backup was still 826mb.
if you are getting an error making abackup go to /sdcard/ clockwork mod even with the error there will be a new back up file long press-properties check the size. then delete the back up (its corrupt) then go to settings-storage if the avaiable space on sd is same as the size of the failed backup you are running out of space.
Titanium Backup is almost as bad. Phone stripped almost bare the backup was 390mb
If you are serious about rooting I recomend getting a larger SDcard. This is a balancing act though because the bigger card the long it takes to scan it on boot. The difference from stock 2gb to 8gb was noticeable so I would guess going to the max 32gb would slow down boot and load considerably.
this can be offset by a sd booster but wont work a miracle.
WHATS MY GOOGLE PASSWORD?
When you flash a rom and made a back up with something like titanium the backup will stay on the sd but not the app. So you have to log into play and redown the app. (titanium instructions)
this is a quick fix that doesnt require the forgot my password.
Copy the titanium apk to your pc and after you flash drop it back in /data/app. Your looking for com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup-1.apk if you are using titanium, using something else your on you own.
OVER/UNDER CLOCKING
Only thing I have to add here is when using the powersave profile don't use a live wallpaper. Ran fine for 2 sec then started slowly crashing. I did not wait for a crash so no idea how bad it gets but trust me you don't want to test this. Plus if the point is saving power the live wall paper is the first thing that needs to go.
