Help My Samsung Galaxy Core DUOS phone doesn't save display settings

WimYogya

Hi,
Since 2 weeks I cannot save the screen display settings in my Samsung Galaxy phone. I want the screen to dim after 2 mins but it always goes back to 30 seconds - so reading a long message/story is not possible without reactivation.
Before that time all was normal.
Is there a recent Samsung or Android update that causes the trouble?
My Android is 4.4.2.
What can I do?

Thanks!
Wim

What app are you using? Most reading apps/some browsers keep the display active when they're open for the very reason you want yours to stay on.

Samsung devices also have a setting that keeps the diaplay on when you're looking at it, don't they? Smart Stay I think it's called, is that active?

I have Smart Stay active, does not work anymore. Settings set to any duration will be reset to 30 seconds after some time, regardless the app I am using. Till 2 weeks ago everything was normal, it seems a flaw in Samsung update...

Yeah, I can imagine it would be annoying. :(

If it's not working via settings, have you thought about using a 3rd Party app to try and keep the screen awake?

Something like that? If that doesn't work for you, there are plenty of other apps out there which do the same thing.

Alternatively, Tasker would probably do the trick too. Tasker would probably be my first suggestion tbh, but as it's a paid app, you might want to try something which is free first.

Thanks for those suggestions. I do hope, anyhow, that the problem sooner or later solves itself (well: will be solved by Samsung updates), because I try to minimize adding more apps. But thanks, I will try.
