Help My Samsung Galaxy Indulge 4G Got Possessed by something scary

Ok, it happened 8 times already. Sometimes when i use it, it starts to work by it own self. It changes betwin screens and the Apps get clicked by them selfs. Today Metro Navigator opened and it went to Google.com and it stopped there. Then i tried to shut the phone off as many times but it will freeze. So the only way to unfreeze the phone and stop the self changing screens and apps clicks, is taking the battery out and re-inserting it and turning the phone back on. Any opinions ? did this happened to you guys too maybe ?

never happened to me take it to the store and tell em the phone needs an exorsism and get it replaced for a new one why deal with a defective phone how long have youhad it?

lol. one month. the thing is that at the Corporate Stores their all idiots. believe me that if they put us at the stores be know better than the noobs that they have there. once i went to the store for another problem i had with the phone and they told me, " well we can change the phone for you but have in mind that it would be a used one " WTF? i paid almost over $500 because i bought alot of accesories and i got the 100 countries plan for and insurance for $5.00 more a month and now they want to give me a used phone. they are stupid. excuse my french.

since you have insurance you can figure something out im sure so that you can get a new one im just saying :)

another option is to get in contact with samsung i do beleive the phone comes with a manufacturers warranty and see what they can do for you i had an optimus m and the phone wouldnt connect to the network and i sent it to lg they repaired it and sent it back working fine now

The thing is that they will not give a new one. They will give me a used one and i have to pay $85 dollars.

yup, they do that.... so much for paying insurance.... u still have the 1year factory warranty though.... u just pay $10, refurbished of course, but it beats $85...

I'm not sure if they will fix this with the warranty...

terms and conditions from Samsung's warranty: Damage or loss caused by Acts of God or any other sources beyond Samsung’s control.

As the phone is possessed, it's an act of god...

Mine did this today. Was jumping all around, opening things and entering text. It was like it was locked up, and then all the button presses suddenly went through and started doing all this crazy stuff. Except I am not a button masher. When I experience lag, I just wait patiently and don't press anything. So it was weird.

Luckily, in my case, a simple power button press (sleep) off and back on cured the problem. But yeah, holy exorcism Batman. It was very weird. I thought it was just me; if you hadn't posted, I probably would never have said anything. lol

lol, well what i do is just take the battery out and re insert it then turn the phone back on and everything is fine. It happened 5 minutes again since the last post.

i notice my phone freezes up at least once a day. it's getting annoying trying to pry the case off to get to the battery to reboot. it's never consistent. i can be using it one minute and it's fine, and then can't sleep it or make another move. other times, i notice it freezes after coming out of sleep mode, after being in my bag. i couldn't even pick up the ringing call i was getting that was ringing intermittently. there's no rhyme or reason, it just happens.

Just a heads up guys. Some times depending on which apps you have down loaded can cause issues with one another. Or even you could have downloaded a bad app, doesnt mean you have virus, but it just isnt working with the induldge for some reason or it conflicting with a different app on the phone.

Dont always be fast to get a new phone or use the insurance. Part of the reason the insurance copays are going up soon is due to high claims.

Try doing a factory reset if all other solutions fail. Then down load the apps that are good and you know are good first. Then download any questionable apps one at a time, and leave some time in between each download of the questionable apps to allow testing of the phone. If you happen to download a bad one then you will know to uninstall it. That way when you run across freezing issues you can pin point your last step.

I have been noticing that some of you can download different apps then I can. Example I downloaded speedtest.net. Indulge seemed to work fine for the first 15 mins to 30 mins today after i downloaded and used speedtest. But then after that i had about 7 or 8 freezes that required me to do a battery pull. So i removed the app. Now a few hours later and indulge has yet to freeze.

Conclusion.......speedtest.net app doesnt work on my indulge for some odd reason.

So glad to see this oldie but goodie post. I finally bought an indulge (have been a forum stalker for 5 months) .. and the first thing I did when I got my phone was install speedtest.net. After that the phone froze relentlessly, keys and screen unresponsive, keys touches were out of sync (the keyboard buttons on the screen wouldn't hit the correct keys to save its life, webbrowser would crash, notification bar went haywire, .. it really put me through it..

After cursing this expensive phone for the past 12hrs I stumbled upon this, uninstalled speedtest.net app, cleared the level 1+2 ram (when you first get the phone you open EVERYTHING, and I've yet to see a real close button), and killed the running apps on the stock task manager (and switched to the samsung keyboard) .. no more freezing.

Now I'm happily playing with the phone and figuring things out (my first android phone) until I cross the 4g and battery issues. Man..I was going to show up at Metro's door at 10am! I'm sooo not talking on my phone over an hour these 1st 7 days .. i'm "testing" the phone .. Thanks ya'll!!

I hope for you it's a better one...
You'd think they'd make sure after all these months that new phones are better, right? WRONG!

Yor phone does that when has been wet ive had two phones do that droid eris and motorola im a cook so sometimes my hands are wetter than my phone would like in the middle of answering a call lol there is no wet mark on the phone so maybe check your battery sorry buddy

i was so dissapointed..i was ready for 4g to fail and the batt to suck..but the ph is at least suppose to be operable

mines started doing this today...i just pressed the sleep button and it stoped then started again..and i let it relax then pressed the home button and it started working fine..

That's weird, I use the Speedtest.net app all the time, and have never had a problem...

Just my .02...

Although I definitely agree that general unexplained weirdness / slowness can be caused by one bad app.

My screen often bugs out too, whenever my thumb is remotey moist. What happens is I touch the screen, barely visible moisture sticks to the screen, registering as a second finger due to multitouch, and then all my further swypes zoom as a result, or if I don't touc the screen, the moisture can launch apps. I lock the screen, give it a wipe, and the problem is solved.
