My Text Messaging doesnt give me the sound notification.

I had tried Hangouts for a few months, grew tired of it, went back to the build in text messaging app/feature. Its working fine except that it does not alert me with a sound anymore. If i hit volume->settings-> i see that notifications is turned up, all my sounds are turned up.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

In the text app, go to Settings/More and make sure that Notifications is enabled.
