Mystery Icon

[BlackGeode]

Hi folks,
From time to time, my LG Spectrum (ICS, VZW) gets an icon in the notification bar that I can't decipher. It's a white a-frame house with two concentric green arcs radiating out the top. The look of it suggests that some kind of wireless signal is being broadcast.

Google image search turns up exactly nothing. And dragging down the notification pane doesn't reveal anything new.

Thanks for any suggestion offered!

Upload it to tinypic and post a link. You should be able to do that.

OK, thanks for the suggestion Mayhem! The unidentified icon appears below.

I don't know the icon (don't know the phone or Verizon), but I suspect that the "house" is key. To me that says "home" and "network".

Does it happen in any particular location? In particular, do you have anything like a home femtocell, or a feature which allows your phone to use your home WiFi for calls? Or any tariff features which might depend on where you are (some networks here used to have a "home cell" or "home zone", though I think that's long gone).

[Hadron]

OK, got it: it means "Connected to network extender service"

I found the phone manual on VZW's website - the icon is on page 23.

Thanks Hadron. I'll have to research what the network extender service is. I can only recall seeing it at home so perhaps one of my neighbors got a femtocell that isn't locked down.

Aah. Yes it's an indoor micro cell that runs VOIP through your home broadband. The folks next door must have set one up.

For a second I thought it was Airpush rearing its ugly head again
