Mytouch slide? or Jump to the droid 2?

Horus

Newbie
i am currently using a G1 and i want to upgrade.

in short i really see that i have two options..

1. Buy a mytouch slide off the streets or internet for probably around $250-300

2. Make the big switch over to Verizon and pick up a droid 2 for about $200 + sign up fee's

i want a new style android phone with a full keyboard and i dont have any upgrades on my t-mobile plan (I'm also not in-contract)

what would you do???

Just remember plans are more expensive with Verizon, plus they like to nickel and dime you. If you want to use their visual voicemail it's $2.99 a month extra, etc. Of course there are workarounds for this (using google voice mail or youmail) but it's the principle for me. I haven't played with a Droid 2 at all, I'm sure it's great, but I have used a MyTouch Slide and it's a very zippy little phone. You'd probably be happy with either.

yeah i was noticing Verizon was a little pricey when i was on there site. i think im willing to make the switch tho depending on if its worth it for the droid 2 over the mytouch slide

Another option you have, if you can hold out until mid september is the G2. Tmobile is releaseing it around that time. The specs are a top tier android phone with full slide out key board.

i read an article on the G2 saying it didnt have a full keyboard ..????

It has a 4-row keyboard. Like the G1 keyboard without the number row.

Overall, I think it would be your best option as you can get it under contract and stick with your T-Mobile plan.

Another phone worth looking at is the Epic 4G on Sprint.

One of the big features about the G2 is that it's the first phone to completely support their HSPA+ network, so if you're in an area with coverage the network speed will be great.

the G2 seems like it would be a good look for T Mobile..I hear the screen is supposed to tilt up or something for vid watching. I've always thought the phones they offer are mediocre. More recently they have been getting a few charms tho, like the vibrant and now the G2.

I'd say stick it out with TM until more info on the G2 is floating around then make a decision from there

I agree MegaBland that until recently everything was very entry level to midrange with them, but the slide is actually one of the better ones I've tried, along with the Vibrant. That phone screams.
