MyUploads Process stopped Unexpectedly

RogerHunt

Newbie
I keep getting the following message every time I boot up the phone.

---------------------
This application My Uploads (process com.google.andriod.apps.uploader) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
------------------------

This phone isn't rooted. I have only downloaded the following apps :

AVG, Skyfire, facebook, Streamfurious, twitter and XfinityTV

I guess a file is corrupted - is there anyway fix without having to reset the whole phone?

Thanks !

Sounds like you have an upload hanging and causing this crash. Could be a picture that you recently tried to share but it's too large or something along those lines.
Try
From the home screen,
- Press the "Menu" button
- Press the "Settings" button
- Press the "Applications" button
- Press the "Manage Applications" button
- Select the "All" tab at the top
- Select the "Menu" button
- Select "Sort by Size"
- Select the "Menu" button again
- Select "Sort a-z" button
- Scroll down to "My Uploads" and select it
- Select "Clear data"
- Select "Force Stop"

Thanks jabba I tried this - and the my uploads (1.5.9) tabs are all blacked out - none of the tabs are active.
Probably because it crashed.
Turn on Airplane mode and power cycle the phone.
When it boots back up pull down your Notification Window and see if there are any uploads trying to go through and cancel them.

Tried this - there were no notifications. Then after checking notifications - got the same error message. Checked My Uploads - still blanked out. Is there a way to re-install just this app?

You could install App Backup & Reinstall and backup all your apps,
https://market.android.com/details?id=tw.nicky.AppBackupReinstall&feature=search_result
Then uninstall the recently added apps and reboot after each uninstall to see if one of them might be causing this issue.
I doubt it's AVG or Facebook.

OK - I have tried uninstalling all my downloads and power off and on - with no success. Is the uploader an app that I can uninstall some way or re install - without resetting the whole phone ? Thanks for your and others (in case someone else has an idea) patience !

It's not something you can simple uninstall and then reinstall, atleast not on an unrooted phone.
Go into Gallery and see if there might be an upload that has not completed and clear it.
If that doesn't do the trick try this:
Pull the battery cover off of the phone and reboot it.
When you get the process com.google.andriod.apps.uploader has stopped unexpectedly, pull the battery and wait five minutes.
Put the battery back in and boot it back up.

If that doesn't work and someone else doesn't come up with a better solution, you might have to do a factory data reset.
If you choose that route. Plug in your phone via USB and back up your sdcard to a SDCARD_BAK folder on your desktop.
Then, after the reset, you can put back those files, reinstall App Backup & Reinstall, which will allow you the option of reinstalling the apps you've collected.

Sorry, I wish I had a better answer.

Update : I ended up having to hard reset the phone. After hrs spent trying to figure out what was causing the problem, even spent 1 hr in the local metro store with a pcs geek rather than a sales person - who couldn't get it sorted. Thanks for your help though.

I had the same problem. It's crazy!
Anyways, I deleted all the extra pictures in my Gallery that I didn't need, along with few videos. I switched my phone into Airplane Mode. The notification was still saying "Waiting to retry". Then it said "Uploading". After a minute, I canceled the video I intended to upload cuz obviously it wasn't uploading. I turned off the Airplane Mode and turned my wifi back on. I went to YouTube and uploaded the video I intended to, without any problem. Hope this helps you! :)
Sorry if I'm late.
