Help N1 Speaker Static and Scratchy

the speaker has static and is scratchy when in use. also, the transmission breaks up. the htc guy wants me to do a factory reset to rule out a software issue. does this sound right? otherwise, he suggests sending it the service/warranty unit.

Might as well try it if it saves you sending it in. Would expect it to be hardware though.

this is a hardware issue. no need to have it reset

I believe with HTC, they require you to do a factory reset if you're sending in your phone for a warranty repair. This just confirms with them that it's 100% not a software issue.

Also, if you ARE going to send it in for repair, doing a factory reset is the best option if you don't want the employees there to see your personal info. Just back up everything before you reset it.
