n7 charging issue?

My 8gb n7 just arrived (uk). Unboxing is not, unfortunately, nearly as exciting as that video montage made it look.

First observation: my portable Belkin charger doesn't charge it. I notice the output is rated at 2A but the Belkin at only 500mA. Another (550mA) charger *does* work though. Odd?

This is going to be annoying for international travel.

The screen and battery are too large for a .5Amp charger. It's like trying to fill a bathtub with a teaspoon. Spare chargers or dual port 1Amp chargers can be found relatively cheaply though.
 
I was actually mildly surprised that my tablet was actually very slowly charging when I had it plugged into my USB port on my laptop, even though I was using it.

It was slow, but I expected it to be draining while I was using it.

I'm surprised your 500 mA charge isn't working... but in any event, I wouldn't take a charger that small to use as my primary use charger. Better to have at least a 1A charger.
 
My 500A charger doesn't work either. I charged it using the stock charger, but then switched it up to a 500A one last night (since it was right next to my bed). It started to charge but I think it actually just completely stopped attempting to charge at one point. I was asleep for 8 hours and in that time it charged 7% so I am thinking it just stopped completely.
