N7 GTalk Notifications?

When the lady tries
to message me on Gtalk
I do not receive

notifications
on the home screen saying I
have a new message...

Far as I can tell,
notifications are on
in system settings,

and in GTalk too.
This is my first Android tab,
so I must admit

it is possible
that I'm doing something wrong,
as I often do.

But it seems like I
should be able to return
to the homescreen and

still be told when I
have received a new message.
Would you not agree?

Go into the Talk application and make sure you are signed in.

Notifications should be on by default, but if not check by first going into the Talk application. Menu > Settings > IM Notifications / Notification ringtone / Vibrate

I find that if I have a chat window open on my PC that I don't get the notifications on my Galaxy Nexus so I assume the same would apply to the N7. I would test but I don't have it yet.

So I tried again.
Unfortunately it still
doesn't seem to work.

Checked within the app...
Notifications are on.
But I do not see

A vibrate option.
Could it only be for phones?
I am at a loss.

"Chat for Google Talk",
which she used on her iPad,
was the problem source.

Using "IMO",
notifications now show.
The problem is solved!

Ah, but you did help!
Making sure my desktop app
was in fact turned off...

Was instrumental
when trying to diagnose
this small irritant.
