Just curious to know.

Does anyone know why carrier branded devices would get update before unbranded. I was under the impression that unbranded updates would be quicker as there would be no carrier bloatware to go on.

What gives you the impression that this hasn't happened? The International Note 2's (N7100) are receiving 4.1.2 updates already. Most of the US carriers aren't yet and I don't think many of the UK carrier branded phones are receiving that yet.

I did my update via Kies. Allows for choosing toggle notifications displayed, as well as order, and some other updates.

Its not. Carrier locked devices have received the 4.1.2 update. The BTU version has not. I do believe that some Eastern European countries have received theirs. UK still waiting. Samsung confirmed.

Not entirely true. Here in the UK the branded operators have the update first. I have an unbranded Note 2 and have no update yet.

I agree its bizarre that the unbranded/unlocked version is one of the last to be updated in the UK. It was the same with my previous Galaxy S2 (as I explained in another similar thread) if there is no carrier to add their software/bloatware, then how is it that its not updated sooner given that Samsung must have released the software to the two Uk carriers who have released it so far....... Vodafone and Three uk.

I stand corrected. Didn't realize that an unlocked/unbranded version purchased in the UK would be different than an unlocked/unbranded international version purchased elsewhere. I know there was a website that was giving updates to which countries were receiving the update. I can't remember which country mine originated from though, but I was able to update via Kies.
