Get Bent!

No, at least bendgate won't be an issue - uhhh, unless you're an iPhone 7 Plus sheep.

That's the problem with these slabs of glass. It was bad enough when you just had to worry about your screen cracking, now you have to worry about the back and sides as well.

Thing is, it's not new: the iPhone 4 and Nexus 4 pioneered glass on glass, and we all know what happened. Samsung's curved displays add an extra vulnerability to this. Each year the marketing people say how the glass is tougher, each year it doesn't really change much.

But as long as they look pretty enough for people to buy them the manufacturers don't care. If you do care, a case is highly recommended.

The fact is that if the device handsome it is not practical. Well, if he is practical he is not beautiful.
It's always been like this.

Amazing amount of force required to bend that S8. Very durable phone. But the glass back seems like a bad idea, easily smashable.

If you think you're going to be careless and are worried and paranoid about dropping it, keep it in a good case.

I won't be bothering with S8 myself, following the Note7 fiasco.

The back glass seems to be it's achilles heel as the front held up for a while surprisingly. If you put it in a a slim case then I think you're in a much safer zone while not increasing it's grasp factor.

After seeing that video i feel more confident about the front face with edge style. I would have liked to see him drop the edge onto an edge of some sort - like stainless steel table or a concrete street curb.

Nice bend resistance for sure vs the iHinge 7 Plus

Bend resistance doesn't bother me - I don't sit down with a phone in my back pocket (if you do I recommend the HTC 10 - damned near impossible to bend that thing). But drops are different: you will drop it sooner or later, and the curved edges are more vulnerable. Straight isn't safe, just curves are less so. If I buy one of these (it's possible just because the size suits me) it will get a tempered glass screen protector plus a slim case. But right now it's one of three candidates, none of which is perfect.

Are my "Tall and Thin" phones out yet?
My Note 3 is taller than the HTC 10 but the 10 is thinner
.

I'm pretty sure the 10 is the same width of the S8. But I'm not sure if the S8 is taller?

What would anyone recommend for an s8+ in the UK.. I was gonna go naked as I have the s7 edge but I've suddenly changed my mind...

The S8 is 4mm narrower than the 10 (due to curving the screen edges - if the screen was flat they'd be the same with), but it is a few mm longer.

In general, the bend test is for iphone fans after they disgraced themselves, all manufacturers began to check but the strength of their phones.:D
