Root Nandroid backup on temprooted phone

I want to do a temproot to freeze the bloatware apps on my phone using Visionary and Titanium backup. Is it possible to do a nandroid backup on a temprooted phone? I'm getting a red exclamation when trying to boot into Recovery Mode.
