nandroid backup & ruu's

Hi I was just wondering when I get my next phone (probably Nexus Prime) if I do a nandroid back prior to rooting would I be able to use this instead of finding the correct ruu for warranty purposes?

You can't do a nandroid unless you are rooted, so the answer is no.

...and even if you could (you can on the desire as you s-off and recovery before root) it wouldn't count as you have to replace custom recovery with stock and whatever else you changed during your rooting process
