Does this actually include the rom?

I guess so, but still want to make sure.

As in, can it be used to switch between ROMs via backup / restore procedure?

And yes, I searched the forums but some answers are a bit vague

Yes and yes, just like any other custom recovery. Only thing you need to be aware of is if you install vrt based themes you might need to download the zipalign script from the TWRP site.

Vrt based themes ? Whats that lol. I am running the Afterburner CM10 theme.

Not sure there are any for N7 (yet), but know for SGS3 that themes based on VillianRom Theme Engine eg Moto moto or JB Domination don't install correctly using TWPR recovery for SGS3, unless you replace the zipalign file in theme zip. Something to do with dynamic links - CWM based recoveries work fine.

Just might be same with N7 and TWRP recovery, if the theme you have works then all good

Ah fair, thanks. Should be fine then .. I have two different backups (two different ROMS / Kernel) but I think I leave "trying" until I need to

My setup took ages and I certainly don't want to risk breaking anything lol ..

a nandroid is a full complete back up of everything you are using dosn't matter what firmware or rom your using or theme it will be backed up.
