Root nandroid backup

Nettwerk

Lurker
So I finally rooted using the nice guides here and have a quick question before I start flashing roms/kernals/ect.. I backed up my stock phone with titanium backup and then used clockwork recovery through hboot to backup my android system and saved the files (on the phone and on pc).

If I change kernals/roms/radios and need to go back to stock I just recover using my backup I made with clockwork recovery and all the stock kernals /rom/radio will be stock again correct? I just wanna make sure I have a way back to stock everything just in case. I know CW backed up my wimax.img also and in the guide it is very important so this is good.

The short answer is yes. A nandroid backup saves your phone EXACTLY how it was at that point in time. Regardless of the changes you make you can restore it back to how it was when you made the nandroid.

Keep in mind a nandroid restore won't work if your hboot changes, did it with RA and attempt with CW (and vice versa), or change phones.

Nandroid backup will not restore your radios. Should you want to restore your phone back to the way it was before updating radios, you must:

1) Restore your nandroid backup
2) Flash the previous versions of the radios that you were using before

If I flash a 3.70 platform Rom and my Clockworkmod recovery is of my stock 3.70 Rom do you still need to update radios. Thanks

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand your question. Are you saying you already have 3.70, stock, made a nandroid backup of it, and want to flash a 3.70 based ROM? If so, then you already have the latest radios, and you do not need to flash them. Is that the information you need?
