Nav interupts phone

I was using Droid navigation, got a phone call and picked it up out of the dock. while on the call the robot came on to give a turn notice and I had to listen for about 10 seconds while the caller on the other end wondered what I was up to.

is this normal?

Same thing happened to me except it just told me the GPS signal was lost while I was trying to talk to the other person on the line. I think it might be a bug for sure..and its annoying at that.
