Navigation program for Europe

In the US, I have a navigation program where you can download the maps by state. That makes you independent of the WiFi during the trip.

I am looking for such a program for Europe where I can download maps for at least Germany and France. Any suggestions.

I can't give an endorsement because I only use the US maps, but Co-Pilot Live has European coverage with off-line maps. I love the US version. In Google Play.

'Navigon', now a Garmin brand, is the same kind of offline navigation as CoPilot :)
I'd used CoPilot on my old HTC Desire and I'm using Navigon on my HTC One X, both with European maps.

For France and Germany you'd choose Navigon's European offline maps.

Thanks guys. I'll check those out.

Update: Those programs look nice but they cost a fortune. And you probably have to also pay for the maps and the updates. Isn't there any more reasonably priced solution ??

In the US Edition of CoPilot, the maps are free. Yeah, I don't why the European App versions are so much more expensive. The full US version is only $20 and I use the standard version ($4.00) and the maps are still free.

Try this one. It's free, a bit less polished, but I think it has Europe:

Not an endorsement because I only tried it once and, for $4, went with CoPilot.

That one looks interesting - thanks. I don't reaslly need it a lot because ususlly I know where I am going. But they are always handy for trip planning.

Aah ... you mean like Google Maps, but totally offline and without turn-by-turn navigation because simple routing is quite sufficient?
Have a look at MapsWithMe :)

What program are you using in the US? I'm in Canada but am assuming (yeah I know that lol) that it would work just as well here. I don't mind paying for a good app but don't want to pay each year for maps. I'm 77 so maybe I shouldn't worry about that lol

IMO you should get NAVFREE app - works fantastically on Nexus 7 - its FREE - with FREE maps - with FREE voices - and does NOT need data connection to work.
