Help Navigation Voice Synth Problem

Just today, my Droid 2 started having a problem with the voice synthesized for navigation - or perhaps two problems?

1. The normal female voice for giving directions is replaced by a slow male voice that does not give directions.

2. The voice I do hear is not giving directions at all, but is apparently reading information that sounds very much like an 'About' bubble for the navigation program, including version numbers, websites, XML versions, etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

There may be something wrong in your TTS settings:
Android Settings -> Voice input & output -> Text-to-speech settings

Consider getting the SVOX voices. They sound very natural and pleasant compared to the stock voice.

Thank you for the advice and I will try those voices. On the other hand I tracked down the culprit for my problem. Seems I had loaded an app called "e-Speak" since the last use of the navigation and when I un-installed it, the problem went away.
