Navigation won't work

I always keep "Google location services" on. I turned on "Standalone GPS" so I could use maps and navigation yesterday.

I don't know if I've used this since ICS or factory resetting after ICS or not. This is a refurbished replacement to my Maxx I factory reset after ICS because the headphone jack broke.

I typed in the address in maps, selected directions, and then navigation. It REFUSED to work. It keeps saying on the bottom "searching for GPS".

I got directions to show up after hard rebooting but it was so friggin frustrating!

Anyone else? It still won't work even after uninstalling updates to maps and disabling maps then bringing it all back. I even downloaded the MapQuest app and it gave me written directions and voice guidance at least, though not turn by turn.

Ideas??!!!

download GPS doctor. after you input your destination hit the home key bring up GPS doctor and run the automatic quick fix. this has worked at least 98% of the time i dont get an immediate lock.

some have also claimed that turning bluetooth on helps for some reason.

I have never gotten a paid app. How can I be sure? What about if I factory reset sometime. Will I have to download it again if that happens?

I also am not able to use a speedometer app because it can't find satellites. Has nobody else had this problem with GPS signal?

I would try the FREE app, GPS Status & Toolbox first. I have an Acer Iconia A500 and after the ICS update, it seemed to take a very long time for Google Maps to lock to my location with GPS. I use the GPS Status & Toolbox app, just standing still outside and seeing how many GPS satellites are listed for my location and eventually fix "locked" by that app. It doesn't take very long and afterwards, I open the Google Maps app and with the GPS Status & Toolbox app having "primed" the GPS, the result is instantaneous when I hit the "My Location" button. It is spot on and the GPS tracking for Maps/Navigation works extremely well and fast afterwards. If I haven't used the Maps app for awhile, I tend to use GPS Status & Toolbox app again and that "jumpstarts" the GPS to work correctly again.

Both my daughter and I have had this problem with our Razrs since the ICS update, and also my son with his Droid 4. My husband has a Rezound with ICS and he does not have the problem. I have read about others with this problem, too. I am going to contact Motorola about it. We should not have to get outside programs to fix something that wasn't broken before the update.
