Need a texting app that can...

Hey everyone,

I've been having a heck of a time finding an Android texting app that can do everything I want. I've been using GoSMS for awhile now and it has everything except the ability to send multiple pictures. I can send it as "BigMMS" but no one can open it.

I've also tried Hangouts, Evolve, Textra, Hello, and Handcent. They all meet some of the criteria below, but none of them meet all, or at least not for free...

  • Send multiple pictures in one message
  • Custom notification sounds and icons per contact
  • Receive picture messages
  • Pop-up reply box

Am I missing a good app that's out there or is there some way to configure those above (I especially liked Evolve) to receive and sending pictures reliably? Thanks.

Have you thought to email the Dev of Evolve (and maybe the others) to see if one or more will add the over feature you're hurting for?
 
Because you can't? MMS protocol is preventing you from doing so AFAIK. Heck some carriers limit MMS messages to 1mb, thereby screwing the idea of sending multiple pictures in one message.

IOS users can do it because it goes through iMessage, and not MMS or SMS. It's basically like sending the pictures via Facebook Chat, or Viber/WeChat/WhatsApp chat. You can do it via Hangouts if you use the Hangout option, and not SMS.

It's not an app limitation, but the limitation of the MMS protocol itself.
